My long-time deviant friend, Zev aka TimberClipse, the volunteer for film and animation, wrote an excellent article about the new movie released this week in the US Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan and starring a great cast. The article is informative and interesting and features some wonderful art posted right here on :devart: ~ if you haven't perused it yet I recommend you doing so!

Managed to do some traveling with my daughter Tina AreteEirene late September and early October. We had a wonderful time and got some great pictures :camera:
I've been getting some pictures from the trip posted here and at WDWParksGal and TheStockWarehouse, but there are still many I need to get ready to post or get into Sta.sh. Due to having troubles loading into Sta.sh, it has been a slow process. Hopefully, I can get more stock posted from the trip.
Tina and I got to eat at some wonderful restaurants on Property at Walt Disney World, and one was at the top of The Contemporary Resort. Having reservations that coincided with the firework display at the Magic Kingdom, part way through the meal we went out to the observation deck and watched the semi-perimeter fireworks that went off during one of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party! It was incredible to see the fireworks inside the Magic Kingdom during a party, but it was even more amazing to watch the fireworks from the observation deck. Tina took pictures, so once I get them loaded onto my computer will work some into some stock pictures ;)

We stayed at Pop Century, which is perfect for just two people. Our room had a lovely view and was in the back of a pool-side building that was located next to the laundry area and lobby. It was SO convenient. The Art of Animation Resort could be seen across the lake.

The pool was wonderful! I told Tina that next time to skip the water parks, especially considering Typhoon was not easy to get to because of the road construction, taking an hour and forty-minutes to get there (on the return trip from TL we were dropped off at Epcot, where we had to walk around the entire bus stop to our resort stop IN our bathing suits and towel wrap to get a bus back to the resort ). We got plenty of stares wondering what in the world we were doing at Epcot in Bathing Suits! Blizzard Beach was easier but we didn't stay long. We played Winter-Summerland Mini-Golf but had to get back to the resort to shower and dress for dinner reservations. Anyhoo, it would have been MUCH better to just enjoy the resort pool during the trip rather than bothering with the water parks.

So, be sure to check out all my sites now and in days/weeks to come for MOAR WDW pics! There are pictures of the parks, parades, resorts and fun stuff. During the Halloween Party, I even got a picture of Merida! Or, at least a guest cos-playing as Merida!

How to be an effective admin in a GroupCommunity Week
For projecteducate's last Community Week I wrote an article expressing the ways in which we can be respectful members of @Groups: How to be a respectful member in a Group. I figured it would be a good idea to follow up on that article by addressing the other side: how to be an effective admin in a group.
In regards to starting up your group:
Starting up a new group can be a daunting task, especially if you have never done it before. There are many things to do in terms of effectively starting up your group.
Make sure you have properly set up your group's gallery folders and front page in a "user-friendly" manner. Make things clear, simple, organized. An appealing layout and organized structure is attractive to potential new members.
Make sure you have listed out your group's rules on your front page, and have explained the purpose/focus of your group clearly. This will help visitors
How to be a respectful member in a GroupCommunity Week
The majority of us are members of groups, and while we might have different reasons to join, and different things expected of our membership in said groups, it is important to be a respectful addition to a group, and to our community. Here are a few tips on how to be a respectful member of your groups, even when you become frustrated by whichever situation might come up.
In regards to submitting your art:
Of course submitting your art is one of the main purposes of joining a group. However before you jump into things and start sending out a million art submissions to various groups, you should pay close attention to each individual group's rules and guidelines! There is no room for assuming things when it comes to groups, each group has its own set of guidelines, and they might wildly differ from what you expect! So read the info they provide, or send a note to ask a question, but don't just ignore it all and spam your art in places it might not e
  StylizationCommunity Week
Hello! TheOtherKilroy here! Today, I'm going to touch base about art styles. I am not an art professor, so these are just some general notes. :)
First of all, what is art style? According to this super long wikipedia article, style is a distinctive way to group work into different categories. (Think of the difference between anime and Western cartoons.) Style comes from the mood of the artwork, the emphasizing and de-emphasizing of certain features, and the symbols that represent those features. For now we are going to talk about emphasizing, and how many of the things we emphasized thousands of years ago are still emphasized today!
Art style is sort of a big deal. I mean, it's only been around since man could make art. Take a look:

Can't draw super realism? Don't worry, the first people couldn't, either. By our standards, everything is de-emphasized to the simplest, si

Potions Master WizardChase has gotten super into comics since we've taken him for his first visit to a local comic book shop, Amazing Fantasy Comics.  For Halloween Comicfest 2014 we entered him into the costume contest, which is now open for voting.  Grand prize (2 winners, one adult/one child) will win a $500 comic book shopping spree.  Second Place is a $100 shopping spree to 50 random entrants (five adults/five children for each category).  And finally a sizeable comics prize pack selection to the voter's picks (five adults/five children in each category).  Voting is now through November 9th.  Chase is in the Original costume category, he isn't a specific character, it was his idea.

Once upon a time…
Bbefore there was a boy wizard named Harry Potter or anything much was known about events occurring a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… there was the oral tradition of telling fairy tales, the first wonderful basic form of education in the lives of all the children in the world. Civilization was just getting underway with cities and towns and tiny hamlets taking shape in cleared patches of real estate carved out of the primeval European woods. In doing research on line it

Great pictures, love the restaurant pic.  The lights are like little stars orbiting around you ;D  And love the Merida dress!  Thanks for including my Potion Master, he won the voting portion of the contest!  They haven't done the announcements yet, but we got the call yesterday.  They make the announcement on the 14th, so I'll be making a journal about it then, don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone ;D  lols.  He's excited.

So jealous of all your Disney trips, you two must have so much fun.  I imagine you live at Disney World.  :D  :mickey: I haven't been there since I was young, like 10-12.  But it is a dream vacation for my kid, that and Legoland!  ;D  I used to go to Hershey's Park since I lived 10 miles from Gettysburg.  And as an adult, I'd go to King's Dominion for Freak Day (punk/goths at the amusement park).  Not sure I want to do rides any more though.
